Muir want to give Turner a ‘leg-up’

Boroughmuir Director of Rugby Malcolm Clapperton has vowed to do everything possible to give a leg up to fifth choice Edinburgh hooker George Turner when he links up with the Premiership outfit at Gala tomorrow.

The highly rated Turner, a Scotland under-20 cap, ranks behind Ross Ford, Andy Titterrell, Alun Walker and Steve Lawrie at Edinburgh and is in need of game time.

Clapperton said: “With Sean Crombie working abroad at the moment and Mike Brown popping rib cartilages against Currie last week it is particularly good to have George join us this week and he will provide back-up to Greig Jones tomorrow.

“Hopefully the Premiership will provide George with a level of intensity that is beneficial to him at this stage if and when he comes on.”

Boroughmuir will be hoping for more possession than when going down 32-37 to Currie at home last week.

Clapperton said: “We scored four tries against Currie which is a fixture that has become
difficult for us.”
