Llanelli 32 - 23 London Scottish: Defeat in Wales leaves Scottish in bottom spot

London Scottish’s poor British & Irish Cup campaign continued in Wales on Saturday with a loss to Llanelli.

Scorers: Llanelli: Tries: Reynolds, Davies, Jones. Pens: Bird 4, Williams. Con: Bird. London Scottish: Tries: Grove 2. Pens: Love 3. Cons: Love 2.

The Exiles have now lost three out of four matches in Pool Six with Gala and Moseley to face in the new year.

Centre Oli Grove, the younger brother of Scotland cap Alex, scored two tries for Scottish in the first half but Llanelli got three tries of their own in the first 40 minutes. The scores, by centre Nic Reynolds, scrum-half Gareth Davies and full-back Dion Jones, gave the Welshmen a 23-14 advantage.

Full-back Love kicked three second-half penalties but Llan-elli gave themselves breathing space thanks to the kicking of stand-off Diggy Bird and replacement Owen Williams.

Bird added two penalties after the interval to two in the first half while Williams kicked one.

Scottish are bottom of the pool and may give some younger players a chance in the final two matches, with Scotland Under-20 squad man Tommy Spinks a possible beneficiary.
