HERIOT’S and Scotland sevens player Joseva Nayacavou, a serving solider, has signed for Doncaster Knights for the remainder of the Championship season after a string of impressive performances for the Goldencare side.

Lance Corporal Nayacavou of the 2 Scots Regiment is a member of the Army Sevens rugby team and won the 2012 new player of the season award for his fine displays throughout the year, when he played a key role in the Army’s successful season with a number of tournament wins.

Nayacavou also boasts international age group honours in his native Fiji as well as national honours in Scotland in the Sevens set-up.

Commenting on the signing, Knight coach Clive Griffiths said: “Joseva will provide cover in all positions in the back row, particularly at number eight where I see him. He is a very quick athlete, the grounds are starting to get more firm now with the change in weather, the surfaces are becoming more solid, so that’s good for him.

“He is a very good rugby sevens player. He has played for the Scotland Sevens squad and is a very exciting player with ball in hand.

“With just six games left this season, we wanted to add to the squad and feel that he is a very good addition at the back of the scrum, whilst bringing another dimension to the team.”
