Heriot’s 31 - 19 Aberdeen Grammar

Heriot’s posted their third win of the Premiership campaign, seeing off a game Aberdeen side in a free-flowing encounter, writes Colin Renton at Goldenacre.

The hosts opened the scoring when Kevin Bryce scythed through the defence for a try converted by Graham Wilson. However, Aberdeen responded with a score from a close range lineout drive which ended with Murray Douglas touching down.

Heriot’s struck back after prop Struan Cessford made the initial break and the recycled ball was shipped out to Andrew Scott who dotted down in the corner. And the hosts extended their lead when Colin Goudie capped a sublime passage of play with his 66th try for the club.

Tony McGuiness applied the final touch for Aberdeen’s second try after a powerful surge shortly after the restart, but Heriot’s responded with a further touchdown from Goudie that sealed the bonus point.

Aberdeen hauled themselves back into the match when Erlend Oag darted in and Mark Ryan converted, but Jason Hill’s converted try sent the basement side home empty-handed.
