Dundee HSFP 30-25 Heriot’s: Relegation fears eased

Dundee and Heriots turning in a splendid free-flowing game. Dundee would be the happier of the two, taking the chance to ease out of the relegation zone, writes Jack Nixon at Riverside Park.

Heriot’s raced ahead in the first minute when flanker Fraser Brown raced through for a try that scrum-half Graham Wilson converted, only for lock Richie Hawkins to bulldoze over for an unconverted score for Dundee.

Wilson then kicked a penalty before the effervescent Andy Dymock nipped over. Centre Jack Steele made the kick count, but was unsuccessful with his other four conversions, adding only one penalty out of four attempts. Full back Jamie Urquhart made incessant home pressure count to make it 17 - 10 with only 20 minutes gone.

CJ Osazuma scored a try for the Edinburgh side, converted by Wilson, though High kept the initiative through a lone Steele penalty success before winger Andy McLean scored a cracking try for 25 -17.

Not surprisingly the pace slackened in the second half with Dundee only having a Richie McIver to show for their fine play, while Heriots had to settle for Wilson penalty and an unconverted try from Russell Nimmo, earning them a losing bonus point.
