Dundee HSFP 27 - 47 Currie: Irresistible Currie blast Dundee in first-half blitz

CURRIE’S relentless progress to the higher reaches of the premiership continued at Mayfield where, in a whirlwind first half the Malleny Park, they blew away the home side with five superbly-created tries.

Dundee coach Ian Rankin conceded his side had been off the pace. “We were humiliated in most areas on the pitch,” he said, “but I was pleased to pick up a try bonus point in the second half.”

The visitors were particularly effective in the back division and stand off Andrew Binikos led his line with authority, sparking the first-half rout with a try from a tap penalty. The fact that four of the Edinburgh side’s tries came from their backs spoke volumes for the progress Currie have made since losing and drawing their two opening games.

First-half touchdowns from Binikos, Ross Weston, Alan Whittingham, Simeon James and Mike Entwhistle paved the way for the win. The home side hit back with tries from Richie McIvor, Jack Steele and Harry Duthie, who added to Taylor Paris’s first-half effort. Jamie Forbes kicked six of seven conversions.
