Dan Parks to return to Murrayfield
THREE weeks after making his final appearance for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup match, Dan Parks will return to Murrayfield on Sunday – to present the match ball before kick-off.
Supporters have the chance to acclaim Parks – not always the darling of the home crowd – and Nathan Hines, the 77-times-capped lock and back-row forward.
Parks, the 67-times capped stand-off, proved Scotland’s matchwinner on many occasions in his eight year international career, during which he became Scotland’s record drop-goal holder with some 17 strikes. He retired from international rugby after he was left out of the Scotland squad for the match against Wales a week past Sunday.

Friday, February 24, 2012 at 02:09 PMMystifying why Parks is there at all. Ends up with 60odd Caps, averaged less than 4points a match. Even his fellow aussies say he wouldn't make their "third" level pub teams He should only attend as a spectator & not in any representative role.

Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:11 AMBizarre, even when not selected Parks can still deliver the ball straight into the hands of the opposition. What a stupid and sentimental marketing decision by the SRU. Accolades used to be given for outstanding achievement in the game and were very, very rare - as Scotland's leading cap and points scorer, Patterson's was certaintly justified. Now the SRU awards them for turning up. Am sure Parks and Hines are decent lads and they did play a lot of games between them but this gesture will mystify the wider rugby watching public. Scottish rugby is becoming harder to sell but this is embarassing.
