Currie hope to beat weather and ’Sonians
Two unbeaten sides in the RBS Edinburgh Regional Cup are set to clash this afternoon at Malleny Park if they can survive the weather.
Heavy rain followed by snowfall on Thursday night turned parts of the capital white, but Currie had a team run last night and will hope that the match with Watsonians can go ahead. Currie have so far defeated Boroughmuir and Musselburgh in the event while Watsonians have seen off Lasswade, Murrayfield Wanderers and Haddington.
With RBS National League leaders ‘Sonians looking for their 14th win in a row in all events it is matches such as this that may just capture spectators’ imaginations in a tournament that has been a damp squib so far.
There are due to be three other matches in the Edinburgh section too. In the West Group, leaders Ayr are set to be at Hillhead Jordanhill.
For the visitors, Byron Schmidt and Stuart Fenwick replace Hayden Wisneski and George Hunter in the front-row.
There are five other matches scheduled in this section.
Two matches, at Falkirk and Perthshire, are due to take place in the RBS Caledonia Regional Cup while in the Borders the highlight is the Selkirk-Hawick tie which is subject to a pitch inspection this morning.
