Carter on song in New Zealand win

DAN Carter kicked 17 of New Zealand’s points as they beat Australia 22-0 in their Rugby Championship clash at Eden Park on Saturday to retain the Bledisloe Cup for the tenth successive season.

Isral Dagg was the New Zealand try scorer, his second-half touchdown converted by Carter in addition to his five penalties. Australia’s miserable match was compounded by the sin-binning of Will Genia in the first half.

In the weekend’s other Rugby Championship match, Argentina and South Africa shared a 16-16 draw, with the Springboks battling back from a 13-3 half-time deficit in Mendoza. Morne Steyn kicked three penalties while Francois Steyn scored the visitors’ try and then converted it.

The result preserves South Africa’s unbeaten record against Argentina.
