Aberdeen Grammar 18 - 22 Boroughmuir
ABERDEEN Grammar will be asking themselves how they managed to lose a game they controlled for long spells, only to fall victim to a late try from Boroughmuir’s replacement Ali Warnock, right, in the dying seconds, writes Jack Nixon at Rubislaw.
Proceedings certainly never justified two red cards, one for each side, and three yellows, though referee Charles Sampson clearly thought otherwise.
The home side seemed set to dominate, taking an early lead when scrum-half Morgan Ward nipped in for a try for Mark Ryan to convert. ’Muir hit back in 16 minutes when prop Robbie Wilson rumbled over for a try converted by Graeme Blackhall but Ryan put Grammar ahead with a penalty, only for the visitors to push ahead again on the stroke of half time when Malcolm Clapperton, pictured, plunged over.
Grammar were reduced to 14 men, but looked more likely to win even after losing No.8 Cam Eyre, taking an 18-12 lead through a penalty from Ryan and a try from winger Ade Hales.
Despite Greig Scott seeing red after only two minutes on the field, Boroughmuir won the game with tries from Jordan Webster and Warnock.
