JED-Forest back Gregor Young will join twin brother Lewis in the Scotland 7s squad on a two-year contract. His first year will be on a elite development basis and his second year on a full professional contract.
Young will link-up with the squad this week and will be in contention for a place on the team’s next outings to Dubai (30 November-1 December) and South Africa (8-9 December) in the HSBC Sevens World Series at the end of the month.
He said: “I’m over the moon to have signed for Scotland 7s, it’s exciting that Lewis and I have the opportunity now to play together for our country. We work well together.
“This is the first stepping stone to a career in rugby and I hope to develop as much as I possibly can.
“I know it’s going to be hard work, but I’m prepared to put in the work and hopefully I’ll feature in a couple of tournaments.”
Young, a product of RBS National League side Jed-Forest, is a familiar face on the Borders’ Kings of the Sevens series and was one of Scotland 7s’ sportscotland institute-supported club players last season.
