PRAISE has been directed towards Scotland prop Geoff Cross after the prop starred in the victory over the USA just three days after the death of his father.

Despite a difficult time after hearing the news his father, Robin, passing, Cross still managed to maintain the mental strength to play a pivotal roll in the Scot’s 24-6 victory over USA Eagles, Strong scrummaging leading to a penalty try being awarded in the first half.

The 29-times-capped tight head prop insisted he did not want to let the side down and was determine to play.

Unfortunatly he picked up a rib injury and was forced off, but afterwards the tributes came in from his coach and fellow players to show their support.

Coach Vern Cotter commented: ”Brave is how I would describe Geoff”

“Everyone understands fully. You only get one mum and dad”

“Obviously, we gave him the option to step down but he wanted to stay”

Team mate Stuart Hogg added; “Geoff is a great man and we’ve been trying to pick him up as best could all week”

“We all wore black armbands as a mark of respect”
