EDINBURGH Rugby scrum-half Sean Kennedy has joined English Premiership side London Irish on a month-long loan deal, the capital club have confirmed.

The half-back recently returned from a knee injury suffered last Autumn, with both the club and player seizing the opportunity to further his recovery in top-flight competition despite the RaboDirect PRO12 commencing a two-week break.

Edinburgh head coach Alan Solomons said he was looking forward to Kennedy using the loan spell to get back up to speed, adding: This is an excellent opportunity for Sean to get back up to speed with some game time at an elite level with the view to returning to us in a month’s time firing on all cylinders.

Kennedy and team-mate Sam Hidalgo-Clyne both signed contract extensions earlier this month with Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Rugby take on Dragons at Rodney Parade on Sunday February 9th.
