Aberdeen Grammar head to Edinburgh today looking for a positive result against Currie to give themselves at least a chance of staying in the RBS Premiership next season.

Their loss to title-chasing Melrose last week left Grammar six points behind second-bottom Hawick with just two matches left to play.

A defeat with no losing bonus points at Malleny Park would confirm their relegation. However, if the Aberdonians could secure a bonus-point win, that would leave five clubs separated by just three points in the
bottom half.

Grammar head coach Kevin Wyness said: “We’ve spoken a lot about the position we’re in this week and, although we know that a number of our performances this season haven’t achieved the points they deserve, we’re under no illusion as to the predicament we’re in. To say we’ve got it all to do is an
understatement.

“However, we absolutely know that the season is not over yet and we’ll be doing our
utmost to win this fixture.”

For Grammar, Scotland A cap Byron McGuigan starts on the wing with his Glasgow Warriors’ team mate Folau Niua, the American centre, on the bench. Edinburgh Rugby centre Joachin Dominguez starts for Currie while Malcolm Peacock has earned a starting berth in the back row.

The Malleny Park clash kicks off at 1.30pm.

Elsewhere today, Marr and Hamilton meet in Troon in a match that will have a big
bearing on the outcome of the RBS Championship A title race.

A large crowd is expected for a game which kicks off at 12.30pm, as whoever wins this one will have a chance to win the trophy – along with leaders Cartha Queens Park – on the final day.

In the RBS National League, Biggar play Selkirk at 1.30pm.
