THE Selkirk coaching team is to be re-jigged for the 2013-14 campaign, while director of rugby Dennis Henderson is set to step down after 15 years in the post.
Over the last two seasons, the trio of coaches in charge of the first XV at Philiphaugh have been Brian Cassidy, Ali Dickson and Ewen Robbie. Now the most experienced of them – Cassidy – is to step down, with Dickson taking over as head coach.
He will continue to look after the backs while Robbie will be given a hand with the forwards by the club’s development officer and former British & Irish Lion, Iain Paxton.
Dickson is a former Edinburgh pro and Scotland Under-21 cap who played more than 100 matches for the Selkirk first XV. Robbie played more than 200 matches for the top team at Philiphaugh.
Currently, Selkirk sit in fifth place in the RBS National League with two matches remaining, while they won the RBS Border Regional Cup before losing in the national quarter-final to Melrose recently.
Meanwhile, former first XV captain and now youth coach at the club, Cameron Cochrane, is to take over the director of rugby role from Dennis Henderson in the summer.
