CAPITAL outfit Murrayfield Wanderers are set to appoint a former Scottish club rugby coach of the year as their head coach.
Jammy McFarlane recently parted company with Hawick YM after five years in charge during which the Borders outfit climbed through the divisions until finishing fourth in Championship Division B last season – one place below Wanderers.
Along the way McFarlane enjoyed some stunning success, notably two years ago when Hawick YM went through the old National League Division Two programme of 22 matches unbeaten.
Currently the Kelso rugby development officer, McFarlane also took Hawick YM to a Murrayfield Shield final where they lost out to Lasswade and is credited with helping a host of players into the senior ranks.
A meeting is expected to be held at Murrayfield Wanderers tonight confirming the appointment of a successor to Bruce Aitchison. Aitchison is now moving to try to help relegated Boroughmuir recover their top-flight Premiership status.
