Glasgow Warriors have received a major boost with the news that centre Mark Bennett has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
Twenty-year-old Bennett re-joined the Warriors from Clermont Auvergne in November 2012, having originally moved to the Top 14 side from Glasgow the previous year.
Since returning as a professional the centre has featured 11 times for the Warriors in the RaboDirect PRO12 and his new deal means he remain at Scotstoun until at least May 2017.
Last month he made his debut in the Heineken Cup against defending champions Toulon and was then called up to the Scotland squad ahead of the Autumn Tests.
Bennett said: “Since returning to Glasgow last year I’ve only ever wanted to stay here.
“There is a really good atmosphere around the club and it’s great place for me to continue my development.
“I’ve enjoyed getting more game time this season and it was a real honour to be called up to the Scotland squad.
“Like all players I want to win things and I feel I have a real opportunity to do that in Glasgow.”
Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: “This is excellent news for the club. “Mark has started at centre in seven games so far this season and he’s continually developing.
“He has a determination to learn and improve so there is a lot more to come from him in the future.”
