With Corey Flynn having played for the Warriors on Friday night, the former All Black did not appear for Hawks.

However, they got off to a good start and they took the lead in the sixth minute when forward power gave Andy Hill a try. George Horne converted.

They extended that lead in the 13th minute thanks to a Horne penalty.

Heriot’s scored a well-worked team try in the 29th minute to get them into things, Gavin Parker the man finishing it off with Alex Hagart nailing the conversion.

Hill was yellow carded around the same time, but Horne’s second penalty made it 13-7 to Hawks at the break. Tries in the 44th and 46th minutes then came for Hawks. They were scored by Junior Bulumakau and Brendan McGroarty and the visitors were 23-7 to the good.

Heriot’s had a lot of possession for the rest of the half, but the Hawks defence was impressive.

The hosts did score tries through Andrew Simmers and Struan Dewar, but it was the visitors who had the last word with a Horne try to get the bonus point and win 30-19.
