CURRIE ground out a gritty success at Old Anniesland to boost their quest for a play-off place – while also denting the hopes of Hawks.
The hosts had started as slight favourites by dint of their recent fine form, but in spite of the presence of experienced Warriors pair James Eddie and Pete Murchie, pictured right, the Malleny Park brigade were worth their win, which also earned possession of the nomadic Bill McLaren Shield.
Currie looked fresher and more urgent overall, thanks to the postponement of their previous scheduled outing with Hawick.
Hawks had held the edge at the interval by three points, thanks to a Robert Beattie try and a penalty by Gregor Hunter.
They scored again through Sean Yacoubian, but Currie roused themselves and in the decisive exchanges their decision-making and accurate execution held sway.
