EDINBURGH Rugby lock Grant Gilchrist has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing further surgery on the broken forearm he sustained last year.

Vice captain Gilchrist broke his forearm during the European Cup fixture against Lyon in October.

And Edinburgh Rugby have revealed that the 24-year-old has fallen into a percentage of people who ‘can have a delayed healing response’.

Gilchrist met with specialists at the Spire Hospital in Leeds, where it was decided that the former Stirling County player should undergo revision surgery.

Gilchrist will continue his rehabilitation with Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland’s medical teams after a period of rest.
