Edinburgh Northern rugby sevens at Inverleith Park on Saturday will again feature the Eagles rugby league team.
The cross-code initiative was established last year and Eagles have accepted an invitation to return for the 59th instalment of a tournament whose three competition format is based on the celebrated Hong Kong event which was established by a former Northern member, Jack Johnston. Defending the main Cup will be a Heriot’s side expected to be led by the experienced Jamie Parker while Murrayfield Wanderers will prove a threat after winning the Kirkcaldy tournament last week. Wanderers include Chris Hardie (ex-Melrose) and Ross Mawdesley, a kiwi sevens specialist. Pigbarians Select include Lasswade’s Kyle Smith.
Draw for the Blyth & Blyth sponsored event is: Pool A: Edinburgh Accies, Northern, Forrester. Pool B: Boroughmuir, Queensferry, Millom. Pool C: Pigbarians, Leith, Edinburgh Eagles. Pool D: Lasswade, Linlithgow, Portobello. Pool E: Heriot’s, Musselburgh, Crown Bar (Dundee). Pool F: Dalkeith, Trinity, Murrayfield Wanderers.
