Rovers' heady feeling after reaching the top

ALBION Rovers moved to the top for the first time since season 2002-3 following their 3-0 victory over East Stirling and they have now stretched the only unbeaten run in the SFL to eight games.

Striker Marc Pollock had waited 13 months between goals before his drought ended at Hampden last Tuesday with a goal against Queen's Park, and he only had to wait four days to find the net again this time around.

The 22-year-old put his team ahead after 13 minutes and the game was won by half-time when David McFarlane added a double.

Rovers manager Paul Martin said: "It was an unbelievable result against a side that have been impressive recently."

Berwick Rangers' attempt to make it six home wins in a row came unstuck when they lost at home for the first time this season with Forfar Athletic winning 1-0 thanks to Ross Campbell's penalty on 65 minutes.

Elgin made the 550-mile round trip to Stranraer very worthwhile as they picked up their first win of their league campaign with a 2-0 triumph at Stair Park. Striker Craig Gunn slid the ball underneath the advancing David Mitchell after only five minutes with striker Jason Crooks netting a second-half penalty.

Montrose and Queen's Park were stripped and ready to take the field when referee Frank McDermott finally called the game off because of high winds.

Livingston's match at home to Annan was postponed because of the Galabank club's involvement in the Alba Challenge Cup semi-final.
