Ross County 0-0 Clyde

Ross County 0 Clyde 0

IMPERILLED Clyde grabbed a point in the Highlands but still fell further adrift of Airdrie in the First Division fight for survival.

The draw did neither side favours, although in County's mitigation, they played two-thirds of the game with 10 men after Richard Brittain's red card.

County held sway from the off, but found clear-cut chances scarce in a strong breeze. Michael Gardyne fizzed a 30-yard shot just over the bar in the second minute.

Twenty minutes later a Brittain ball was nodded on by Steven Watt and met by the head of Craig Brewster, but keeper David Hutton reacted brilliantly to palm the ball away.

Seven minutes later, County were down to 10 men when Brittain received a red card for kicking at Marvyn Wilson after being bundled to the ground.

Buoyed by the advantage, Clyde created their first chance after 38 minutes when Tony Stevenson's free-kick spun off Alex Keddie for a corner.

The second period was scrappy in the extreme, with neither set of players able to get the ball down and play.

Into the last quarter, a Sean Higgins strike from distance was smothered low by Hutton. Moments later, Higgins teed up Gardyne for a 20-yard strike that whistled just wide of the keeper's left-hand post.

County should have finally broken the deadlock after 84 minutes, but Gardyne blasted over from only eight yards. At the other end, Malin made a fine double block from Pat Clark as Clyde tried to hit back.
