Rose boss set to welcome old friends

BONNYRIGG ROSE boss Alan Miller admitted today he will find his side's game against former club Edinburgh United a strange experience – but insisted there will be no split loyalties.

Miller will welcome his former employers to New Dundas Park this evening in only his third game in charge of Rose knowing his side must win if they are to keep alive hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the South League Cup.

Miller spent four and a half years with the Capital's only junior football club before deciding the lure of managing in the Super League was too strong to refuse at the start of this season.

He enjoyed his first competitive win on Monday evening when his side beat Dalkeith Thistle 4-1 and he is looking for a repeat performance as they look to keep the pressure on Linlithgow Rose.

"It's not ideal playing Edinburgh so soon after leaving," he said. "I still have a lot of friends there and I have a lot to thank them for.

"I'm sure some of the players at Edinburgh will be looking forward to this game although for me it's not ideal. But football has always thrown up these sort of things and we'll just try and treat them the same as we would any other opposition and try and get the best result we can."

Bonnyrigg are still without John Elliot while Grant Killin is also set to miss the game through injury. Recent signing Paddy Flannery is unavailable due to work commitments.

Elsewhere, Linlithgow Rose travel to Pumpherston, Broxburn Athletic host Dalkeith Thistle while Musselburgh and Newtongrange are at home to Haddington and Arniston Rangers respectively. All matches, weather permitting, kick-off at 6.45pm.
