Reynolds still believes Motherwell can be third
MOTHERWELL defender Mark Reynolds has refused to give up hope of a repeat of last season's success and believes the Steelmen can again clinch third spot in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
The Fir Park side defied all the odds when they finished behind Celtic and Rangers to secure a UEFA Cup berth last term.
A dreadful start to the current campaign quickly dented hopes of a repeat but an impressive run of results has allowed Mark McGhee's men to climb the table.
Nine points still separate Motherwell from third-placed Hearts but Reynolds believes it is too early to write off their hopes just yet.
"The manager (McGhee) said after the Hearts game that we couldn't catch them because of the result," he said.
"But they dropped points on Saturday so I don't think third is definitely out of reach. We will be aiming for fourth and just trying to get as many wins as we can.
"If it's tight going into the split, anything can happen. People will lose points and gain points when they're not expected to.
"If we can get ourselves into the mix before the split, it's all there to play for."
