Reid sure Quinn will have a point to prove at Hamilton

HAMILTON manager Billy Reid has expressed his delight after he secured Celtic midfielder Rocco Quinn on a permanent deal and kept his coveted youngsters.

Reid moved for Quinn, who he has known since he was a 12-year-old, after last week's loan bid for Hibs' Fabian Yantorno was scuppered by red tape.

The New Douglas Park manager believes the 22-year-old, who has had loan spells with Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Livingston, will be motivated by his failure to make an impact at Parkhead after securing him on a deal until the end of the season. He said: "It's been difficult for him to break through at such a big club but he fits the bill – he's young, a local lad, with a good grounding in the game. I'm sure he'll feel he has a point to prove."

Reid has revamped his squad during the window, with Kenny Deuchar arriving on a short-term deal and Rangers' Jordan McMillan and Celtic's Paul McGowan snapped up on loan.

With nine players farmed out or released, Reid is delighted players were linked with possible moves away – James McCarthy, James McArthur and Brian Easton – will remain for the rest of the campaign.
