Redwater River can run away with win on all-weather

REDWATER RIVER showed some useful form in Ireland and is an interesting contender for the Play Golf At Southwell Golf Club Handicap tomorrow.

The son of Kyllachy had run well in defeat on a number of occasions last year and deserved his sole success at Gowran Park, where he ploughed through the mud to score by a head.

The former Dermot Weld inmate has now joined the rather less-heralded yard of Ruth Carr but she is not averse to training winners and as he has run well on artificial surfaces before, it would be dangerous to rule him out.

Wing Diva has shown up well on her first couple of outings and looks set to get off the mark in the William Hill January Sale – Now On! Maiden Stakes.

The daughter of Hawk Wing was a creditable fourth of eight on her introduction at Nottingham and she stepped up again on that effort when second at Southwell last month.

Her trainer Brian Smart could hardly have wished for a better start to the New Year and this filly looks set to add to his tally in what is only a moderate contest.

Minotaurious let down favourite-backers on her latest outing but she can reward those who keep the faith in the Foyle Maiden Stakes at Great Leighs.

Karl Burke's charge has finished second on three of her five starts to date and was sent off at prohibitive odds of 5-4 at Wolverhampton last time.

Although her supporters had their fingers burned, there was still enough promise in her performance to suggest she is more than capable of winning sooner rather than later. This could be her day.
