Rangers: Doubt over sick Davis
RANGERS midfielder Steve Davis is a doubt for today's Co-operative Insurance Cup final against St Mirren after being sent away from the team hotel yesterday with a sickness bug. Manager Walter Smith is still hopeful the Northern Ireland international can make the Hampden match but decided to send him home to prevent the bug spreading to team-mates.
If Davis fails to make it Smith will likely utilise either Nacho Novo or DaMarcus Beasley in a wide right role.
Meanwhile, understudy goalkeeper Neil Alexander is expected to get the nod to play ahead of Allan McGregor this afternoon. Smith said: "Managers can always change their minds but Neil has played in every other game in the League Cup this season. My intention was that would continue."
