Ramprakash eyes call up

VETERAN Mark Ramprakash admits he would cherish being involved in next week's Ashes decider, as the men under pressure for their places failed once again.

Ramprakash, 40 next month, played the last of his 52 Tests way back in 2002 but has enjoyed an Indian summer to his career and averages in excess of 100 in the 2009 first-class season.

England's Headingley humiliation has cranked up the pressure on Ravi Bopara and Ian Bell in particular before the fifth Test at the Brit Oval.

Ramprakash said: "I always hoped my performances on the field will do my talking. I've not spoken to (national selector) Geoff Miller, but I'm available. I think any cricketer would be.

"It's a wonderful showpiece occasion we've got on our hands, so for it all to come down to this game now ... I think any player would accept that challenge."
