Queen's Park 1 -3 Livingston: Livingston goalkeeper McKenzie wants cup run to boost club coffers
IT wasn't the first time Livingston keeper Roddy McKenzie had won at Hampden, but he is hoping this Scottish Cup victory could prove just as vital as the club's 2004 League Cup success in which he starred.
McKenzie knows a good cup run could help ensure some of Livi's top earners can be kept on by the new owners, who are dragging the Lions off the scrapheap.
He said: "The big guns come into the competition in the fourth round and hopefully we'll be there.
"It would be good for the club if we went on a wee run and got some cash behind us.
"Things have settled down a bit at Almondvale, there's no more nonsense going on. The fans were disillusioned when Angelo Massone was running things but they just want the best for the club and they are right behind us."
Raffaele de Vita sent Livingston into the third round with a stunning brace, thanks to Winters brothers Robbie and David.
First, Robbie picked out De Vita in 32 minutes on the edge of the box and the Italian arrowed home a superb volley.
Livi dominated play but had to wait until just after the hour when Ross Dunlop was penalised for handball and Liam Fox stepped up to convert the penalty.
The home team ensured a nervous finish for Lions supporters when they pulled a goal back with 13 minutes remaining when Tony Quinn converted Chris Hamilton's cross.
However, De Vita wrapped the scoring up when David Winters' clever dummy allowed the striker a sight of goal.
Livingston boss Gary Bollan said: "We told Raffaele at the start of the game to get back on the scoresheet and he did that.
"I thought we put in a thoroughly professional performance and deserved the win. We got the ball down and passed it well."
• LIVINGSTON defender Cameron MacDonald has signed a new deal with the club, which will see him at Almondvale for a further two-and-a-half years.
The 19-year-old has recently cemented his place in the centre of defence.
