Phil focused on Edinburgh battles ahead
PHIL GODMAN insists he can't afford to look past Edinburgh's next two Magners Celtic League assignments despite already being inked into Scotland's team at stand off for the opening Autumn Test against Fiji at Murrayfield in three weeks' time.
National coach Andy Robinson gave a vote of confidence to the playmaker this week saying he was certain to start, if fit, and Godman said: "I want to be in a winning Scotland team every time and I want to be part of a successful Edinburgh side, too, so I'll keep trying to do my best in the knowledge that tests don't come any tougher than (league champions) Munster tonight.
"Munster have the Lions tour stand off, Ronan O'Gara, in my position and I can't think of anything better than to be given the chance to measure myself against someone like that in a side with class all down the line."
Godman added: "I'm just concentrating on my own game and, at the moment, I'm happy with my form which meant I was always hopeful of being called upon by Scotland.
"At Edinburgh, we slipped back in the league after a couple of defeats but the nine in a row between the end of last season and the early campaign taught us how to win and we'll be looking for a boost ahead of the international window not only tonight but against Dragons at home next weekend."
