Peterhead 2 - 2 Queen's Park: SFL pair's Parkhead incentive

Peterhead 2 Bavidge (17), Anderson (73) Queen's Park 2 Brough (35), Cairney (43)

PETERHEAD and Queen's Park will reconvene at Hampden Park for a Scottish Cup fourth-round replay next Tuesday evening, with the tantalising prospect of a trip to Parkhead to face Celtic awaiting the winners.

The two sides played out an entertaining draw at Balmoor, and the replay at the national stadium in eight days' time has taken on even greater significance since yesterday's fifth-round draw pitted the winners of this tie against the Scottish champions.

Now they know the identity of their next opponents, Peterhead will be all the more grateful for Stuart Anderson's equaliser 17 minutes from the end.

Martin Bavidge, who opened the scoring for the hosts after 17 minutes, said: "It's a fantastic incentive – I don't think there will be anybody associated with Peterhead who isn't rubbing their hands."

After Bavidge had glided on to a Graeme Sharp pass and showed great composure to beat keeper David Crawford, Queen's Park defender James Brough restored parity with a fine header after 35 minutes.

Paul Cairney, the game's best player, then ensured a half-time lead for the visitors when he smashed a shot past Michel Kula two minutes before the break. But Anderson ensured a replay when he fired home from 20 yards.
