Partick Thistle 2 - 0 Morton

Partick Thistle 2 Erskine 60; Boyle 71 Morton 0

Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly's chances of becoming Ian McCall's successors in charge of Partick Thistle increased when the interim management team registered their first victory since moving into the technical area.

Scott Fox provided the only noteworthy save of the first half when he turned over a rising drive from Stewart Kean at his near post in the 11th minute.

However, the game was turned on its head when Thistle took the lead with a goal that came out of nothing.

Jamie Campbell claimed the assist with a pass to Chris Erskine but the midfielder deserves all the credit for the ferocious left-foot drive from the edge of the penalty area which rendered Colin Stewart's dive superfluous.

Thistle's second was a triumph of perseverance. Grehan pulled the ball back into the path of Paddy Boyle, whose first attempt struck an opposing defender. Undaunted, the full-back seized on the rebound and drove it past Stewart from 15 yards.

"We've had no indication from the board about the future other than that we're in charge until the end of the season," said former Celtic and Scotland defender McNamara afterwards.

"I would imagine that a lot of people will have applied for the job because this is a good club and a great opportunity for someone to do well.

"We've just got to work hard and wait and see what what happens. However, I thought that we were excellent today."
