Partick Thistle 2 - 1 Inverness CT: New boys on target as Partick fight back to win
Adams (53) Lovell (68) Tokely (6)
IN THE only SFL match to take place at the weekend, Partick Thistle's recent signings Jamie Adams and Steve Lovell both scored second-half goals to help the Glasgow side back to winning ways and up to third in the First Division.
Having lost two and drawn one of their previous four games, the Maryhill men looked set for another frustrating day when Ross Tokely headed Inverness ahead after only seven minutes.
But, with fog beginning to settle over Firhill, on-loan Kilmarnock youngster Adams nodded the equaliser past Ryan Esson nine minutes into the second half before former Dundee, Aberdeen and Falkirk striker Lovell marked his first start for Ian McCall's men when he smashed home a Simon Donnelly pass midway through the second period.
With four of the other promotion chasing sides meeting tomorrow night, Ian McCall's men are right back in the race. "It was a big second-half performance from us and everyone did really well to get us an important three points in a league where there seems to be seven teams going for promotion," said the Partick manager. "Jamie Adams is fantastic in the air and I will be working on a deal to keep him until the end of the season."
It was a case of same again for Inverness as they let a half-time lead be converted into a defeat just six days after going down in the ALBA Challenge Cup Final after being two ahead.
Manager Terry Butcher said: "It is the same speech once more, scoring goals is not an issue for us but keeping them out is. I am disappointed again as we have thrown points away."
