Paralympics: Aileen McGlynn and Helen Scott have ‘unfinished business’ after tandem cycling silver

Waiting for Video...

AILEEN McGlynn and Helen Scott have already begun the four-year countdown to Rio 2016, admitting they have “unfinished business” in tandem cycling.

Glasgow’s McGlynn and sighted pilot Scott won Paralympic silver and bronze medals in the London Velodrome.

They beat fellow British pair Lora Turnham and pilot Fiona Duncan to bronze in the tandem pursuit, having already claimed silver in the time trial.

But double Beijing gold medallist McGlynn, 39, and Paralympic Games debutant Scott believe they can do even better in Rio.

“Nobody is going to remember the times we did, they are just going to remember that we won medals,” said Scott, 22.

“We have medalled in two events, we came to ride in two events, and the only thing better would have been two golds. But to come away with two medals is brilliant.

“We have got unfinished business on the tandem now and we want to complete the set and get the gold medals to match our bronze and silver so we definitely want to continue.”

McGlynn added: “Hopefully they will be bringing the sprint back for the women’s tandem.

“That will probably become more of our focus, the tandem sprint and the kilometre. It’s been back for the worlds but I’m not sure when they decide what events will take place for Rio, but hopefully for us the sprint will be one of them.”
