Sneddon ends Logan’s run

Calum Logan of Kirkliston is the latest high-ranking seed to tumble from the Scotmid Co-operative 14th West Lothian Masters with the 23-year-old No. 5 losing to former cap George Sneddon in a 21-20 thriller at East Calder.

Logan led 11-1 but slipped to 13-12 down then held the driving seat at 19-18 before 
62-year-old Sneddon hit 21 with a 2, (1), 1 finish.

Two more seeds bit the dust with Mark Allison (9) making a 21-17 exit to his Kirkliston club-mate Steven Forrest, while Andrew Semple (No. 14) of Oakbank lost to Jim Smith of Linlithgow who landed a late 1, 2, to win 21-17.

The seeds still bidding for the £1000 title and signature Green Jacket are: Gary Smith (2) of Linlithgow, Blair Mackie (12) of Newbridge, Frazer Muirhead (13) of Uphall Station, Alec Allan (16) of Newbridge.

David Renwick, the world stage golf caddy from East Calder, stepped up his title bid with a 21-10 win over David Wilson Jnr of Broxburn while James Speirs Jnr of Newbridge finished 1, 1, 2, 2 to pip Walter McDougall of Glenmavis, 21-20.
