Shinty: Robertson hopes to kick on towards cup treble

INVERARAY anchorman David Robertson admits no one would have expected the club to hit 14 goals as they lifted the 108th AJG Parcels Celtic Society Cup.

However, the 14-0 rout of lower league Taynuilt at Strachur on Saturday could be the result they need as a springboard to more success.

Robertson played a key role in the triumph and will also be vital this coming weekend as Inveraray stand 90 minutes away from another final. The clash with Oban Camanachd in the Artemis Macaulay Cup semi-final is a golden opportunity for the Argyll side to build on the weekend’s success.

“We hope the win is part one of three for us,” said Robertson. “We are also in the advanced rounds of the Camanachd Cup so there is lots to play for. No one would have thought we would win by such a margin on Saturday but, in the second half, we really hit form.”

Inveraray’s marksmen were Russell MacKinlay (4), Euan McMurdo (3), Garry Macpherson (3) and Chris Crawford.
