Shinty: Anderson refuses to get ahead of himself

New Kingussie co-manager Davie Anderson is refusing to get carried away by his side’s unbeaten start to the season. Anderson was drafted in during the close season to assist boss Russell Jones and the first two matches have reaped instant rewards.

Kings, who face Oban today, finished 2012 without a trophy. However, the club has bought its Dell ground on the banks of the Spey and have installed new facilities. A crop of promising young players is providing new hope, too. But Anderson says it is a gradual approach to success that is guiding them forward. “We are not looking too far ahead,” he said. “What was pleasing was that the boys did come away with the victories and that builds confidence.”

The other unbeaten sides, Inveraray and Kyles, face Lovat and Fort William respectively.
