Schools Basketball: Highland hopes for cup final
Millburn Academy and Culloden Academy will be hoping to make it an all-Inverness Senior 1 final at the Scottish Schools’ Cup final at Grangemouth later this month.
In the semi-finals, also at Grangemouth today and tomorrow, the two Highland sides are on opposite sides of the draw.
Falkirk High have reached the Senior 1 boys semi-final for the first time in a number of years, perhaps due to the introduction of the Regional Development League Programme.
The Senior 1 girls will be a battle between Arbroath High and Portobello High in one semi-final and Culloden Academy against newcomers Dunbar Grammar on the opposite side of the draw. Dunbar have all three of the girls teams playing in the semi-finals, a fine achievement.
Arbroath High School have done exceptionally well, as all four girls’ teams are through to the semi-finals, as are the senior and under-14 boys.
The shock side in the Open category is Fraserburgh Academy, who knocked out a young but experienced team at North Berwick High School.
The boys’ finals will take place at Grangemouth Sports centre on 20 March, with the girls final the following day.
