rling: Sweep smell of success for Tasha

Murrayfield curler Tasha Aitken won her opening two round-robin matches at the Scottish Junior Championships in Aberdeen.

The 21-year-old architecture student began yesterday by defeating her club-mate Gina Aitken 10-6, despite conceding three stones at the sixth end. She then trounced Kinross skip Alison Wood 11-4 to go joint top of the standings with Jenny Martin and world junior champion Hannah Fleming, who also won twice.

Gina Aitken led Martin 6-5 in her second match, but was eventually beaten 7-6 to finish the day empty-handed.

Murrayfield’s Bruce Mouat made a disastrous start against Grant Hardie’s Dumfries rink, losing 11-6. It was a different story last night as he stormed into a 5-0 lead over Greenacres’ Frazer Keil, winning win 10-3.
