Rested Capital teams go back out on the road
Capital clubs charge back into action this weekend after the school mid-term break, a break which has more to do with the excessive cost of hiring halls on holidays and Sundays than a desire by the teams to have a rest.
Most of the games are on the road with six teams from Edinburgh Kings and Boroughmuir Blaze all away tomorrow.
Would-be fans might require a compass to find North College in Glasgow where Glasgow Storm, who have had to relocate from Scotstoun SC, are hosts to all the Kings men.
Formerly Kings’ bogey team, Storm have given no hint in their recent form that they can stop the Capital side’s march to another title.
Coach Doug Reilly expects all his squad to be available with the exception of Jamie Malcolm and Lithuanian “big man” Audrius Ciapas may even resume, work permitting.
Kings junior and cadet teams play Glasgow Rens at Shawlands Academy which gives cadet coach Steven Dickson a scramble across the city in time to play for the seniors.
Blaze have further to go but at least are all at the one venue when they play Troon Tornadoes at the latter’s new home court at Stewarton Sports Centre.
The senior game, the third of a triple-header, looks evenly poised based on recent form with home advantage perhaps favouring Troon.
But Blaze have shown, particularly against St Mirren recently, that they are no respecters of reputation and, with guard John Brown back after injury, will look to take the game to their hosts.
“I’m really looking forward to this test of our progress,” said coach Simon Turner.
