MacArthur set to bow out with title

sHINTY: Norman ‘Brick’ MacArthur guided Newtonmore to the verge of a third consecutive championship on Saturday before revealing he is reday to step down as manager.

MacArthur’s troops defeated Glen Urquhart 1-0 thanks to an Evan Menzies goal, thereby making it virtually impossible for Kyles to stop them winning the title.

Kyles now need an unlikely 14-goal swing in their final match and for Newtonmore to lose to Glen.

“It is time for me to go. The final game will be quite emotional for me as I have been involved with the club since I was 18, but a third title wouldn’t be a bad way to go,” he said.

“Some people focus on cups but, for me, winning championships is the mark of how good you are. If we can deliver it, it will be another major achievement.”
