Lorna Cameron in action as playdowns begin

THE playdowns for a place in the men’s and women’s national fours championships get under way today with the winners from each of the four venues tomorrow booking a tilt at the title over the last weekend at Fraserburgh in March.

Back-to-back champion Lorna Cameron will again skip her mother Audrey, Anne Marie Taggart and Liz Brown from the Whiteinch club at Prestwick against the winners of the preliminary round clash between West of Scotland and Dumbarton, with Irvine or Galleon tomorrow’s opposition.

Auchinleck, represented by John Clandlish, Derek Ferguson, Les Fowler and Billy Anderson open in the first round today against Glasgow’s Jim Meers, Arthur Flood, Willie Paul and Alistair Coutts at the West of Scotland, with either Abbeyview or Cowal in wait tomorrow.
