Ice Hockey: Hartmann key for Capitals
IN-FORM Richard Hartmann could be the key as Edinburgh Capitals go back-to-back with Scottish ice hockey rivals Braehead Clan this weekend.
The opening exchange is at Braehead (7pm) tomorrow, with points counting for the Elite League and the Challenge Cup, Group A, and the return is at Murrayfield on Sunday (6pm) in the Elite League.
Player-coach Hartmann’s glory treble helped sink Fife Flyers last Sunday, earning the Capital club their fourth win in five games.
The hat-trick moves the experienced Slovakian into second place in Capitals’ individual scoring charts with six goals and ten assists in 11 starts. He received valuable support thanks to a double from Rene Jarolin, the club’s top points gatherer with 12 goals and eight assists from 13 games. He is eighth in the overall Elite League charts.
Capitals must, however, beware Clan’s firepower. Jordan Krestanovich is enjoying a purple patch with eight goals in only nine games with Brock McPherson next best on four.
And former Nottingham Panthers favourite Jade Galbraith tops Clan’s charts with two goals and 15 assists from nine games.
Capitals must beware a backlash as the Glasgow outfit will be anxious to bounce back after being humbled 9-4 at Hull on Wednesday in the league.
