Ice Hockey: Danny Mac has confidence in Edinburgh Capitals as he signs up for more

Edinburgh Capitals today announced today that stalwart Daniel McIntyre will return for an eighth season with the ice hockey club.

Player-coach Richard Hartmann believes the popular utility player, known to the fans as Danny Mac, will continue to be an important player for the Murrayfield outfit.

Hartmann said: “McIntyre is a player who can play forward or defence when required. Danny’s signing provides a lot of options for us, he is a solid player that is getting better every season, and he is a key British player for the club.”

Last season McIntyre, who works full time as a personal fitness trainer, acted as one of Capitals’ assistant captains, and team General Manager Scott Neil revealed McIntyre will play a bigger off-ice role for the club, when their Elite League campaign gets under way in September.

Neil commented:“Danny will be taking up a new responsibility with the club, and will act as strength and conditioning coach for our younger up and coming players in the Scottish National League team.”

McIntyre first played for the Capitals 11 years ago as a 17-year-old, and also had a three year stint with Edinburgh’s oldest rivals the Fife Flyers between 2007 and 2010.
