Hockey: No disgrace for Students
PLAYER-COACH Graham Moodie praised his men after Edinburgh University’s hockey side were edged 4-3 by Glasgow combine Clydesdale despite the students being minus nine first-team players.
Moodie said: “This was a tremendous effort from the boys. We tried to get the game postponed but Clydesdale didn’t want to and I’m full of praise for the guys who obviously stepped-up.”
Second-bottom Hillhead won the basement battle with CALA Edinburgh 3-2 in Edinburgh to close the gap between them and the Capital combine to four points while Grange leapfrogged Western into second place thanks to a 4-0 victory over bottom club Dundee Wanderers at Peffermill.
Yesterday, Grange were held 3-3 at seventh-placed Grove Menzieshill but still move into second place in Division One. The Edinburgh club now have 26 points from 12 games.
