Curling: Surprise call-up for Annie
Edinburgh curler Annie Laird received a surprise call-up for today’s opening session of the Glynhill Ladies International at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena.
European champion Eve Muirhead is on her way back from the Youth Winter Olympics in Austria and will be replaced by Laird for the clash with Switzerland’s Binia Feltscher.
Meanwhile, Murrayfield skips John Hamilton and Struan Macnee hope to book their places at next month’s Scottish Championship Finals as the qualifiers continue in Perth today.
Hamilton and Macnee top Section A, and Ross Hepburn and Colin Dick lead Group B, but Paul Stevenson and Bruce Mouat already look out of contention, while Colin Campbell faces a battle to progress from Pool C.
