Curling: Unbeaten Scotland on top in Russia

Although Scotland joined Norway – who sat the session out – at the top of the table following their fourth win of the week, 7-5 against Italy, four teams are breathing down their necks after six sessions of men’s play at the World Junior Championships in Sochi, Russia.

Both Russia, who beat the USA by 9-3 in just seven ends, and Sweden, who had a 6-4 win over Canada, recorded their third wins, and these two teams, along with Canada and Italy, now share third place with records of three wins and two losses.

Scotland maintained their unbeaten status in the tournament with a solid performance against Italy and afterwards, Scotland skip Kyle Smith, said: “We got off to a good start and then had a slack couple of ends and we let them back into it, but we held ourselves together.”
