Curling: Tasha runner-up in Junior champs
Murrayfield curler Tasha Aitken was a proud runner-up at the Scottish Junior Championships in Aberdeen yesterday.
The 21-year-old architecture student finished second in the round-robin section before beating Galleon’s Jenny Martin 8-5 in yesterday’s semi-finals.
That set up a third meeting with Lockerbie’s 2012 winner and reigning world junior champion Hannah Fleming, but the match went the same way as the previous two as Fleming counted four stones at the fifth and seventh ends to win 10-4.
She will now bid to defend her world junior title in Russia next month.
Murrayfield’s Gina Aitken finished equal fourth overall with three wins out of seven, while club-mate Bruce Mouat was fourth in the men’s event with a 4-3 winning record as Perth’s Kyle Smith retained his title.
