Curling: Capital curlers Campbell and Hepburn at Scottish Finals

Edinburgh curlers Colin
Campbell and Ross Hepburn were beginning their attempt to dethrone title
holder Tom Brewster as the Scottish Championship
Finals were getting underway at Perth’s Dewars Centre today.

Campbell helped Aberdeen skip David Edwards to finish top of this winter’s Scottish Curling Tour standings, and they start their round-robin campaign today against the Greenacres rink of Neil Joss.

Hepburn also plays “lead” for Perth veteran Warwick Smith and their opening match promises to be a tough one against Dumfries junior Grant Hardie.

Murrayfield’s Gina Aitken and Kerry Barr both face major tests in the ladies’ event. Aitken takes on former world champion Jackie Lockhart, while Barr faces world junior champion Hannah Fleming. Ex-European gold medallist Eve Muirhead is the defending champion and pre-tournament favourite.
